Where do you get your information? It's wrong.
Some information on our site, particularly vehicle pricing and specification data, is supplied by outside sources. These companies are highly credible sources, but discrepancies and omissions sometimes appear in the data we present. When we discover errors, we contact the vendor and make corrections. If you see data on our site that you are confident is incorrect, please contact customer support.
How often do you update your vehicle listings?
We add vehicle listings throughout the day from dealers' inventories, private-party newspaper classifieds and online ads placed through our Sell It Yourself channel. Ads can be updated, added or deleted at any time of day.
Can you notify me when new listings are posted that match my search criteria?
We not offer a service to alert customers to new ads.
Do you post vehicles for sale outside the United States?
No
Do you include listings for motorcycles or recreational vehicles?
The site focuses on new and used passenger cars and light trucks and does not have information on other vehicle types.
How often do you update rebates and incentives?
This information is updated weekly, but more frequent updates are made when details of special promotions are released. We stay in contact with manufacturers to get the latest information and strive to post it as soon as we know that incentives have changed. We also update several times a month with information from other sources because some manufacturers do not share their information. But many manufacturers do not update their incentives programs until the current program expires, and they commonly carry over programs that are expiring. If you see an incentive on our site past its expiration date, it's worth a call to a dealer to see if it's still in effect.
How often do you update other information on your site?
Research information is updated as it comes in from our various sources. Depending on the time of year, that can happen on a daily basis. Information in our other editorial sections of the site are updated as conditions warrant, and those pages all carry taglines with the date of the last posting or update.
Where do I find towing and other specs for my car?
Towing specs can be found in the Research channel. Tow specs are given under the term "Max. trailer weight." Although other specs are available on a vehicle's main research page, tow specs are shown by trim level only because the tow rating on a vehicle can vary widely depending on specific equipment. Some vehicles, particularly passenger cars, are not recommended for towing. If you do not see a trailer weight listed for your make and trim level, check with the owner's manual or ask a dealer to see if it can be used for towing.
Why didn't I see anything on your site about my car's recall?
We post all recall news stories that we receive from our news content providers, including the Associated Press, as well as those reported by members of our editorial staff. However, no news sources cover every vehicle recall; there are simply too many of them. You can search the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for specific recalls.
Which vehicles come equipped with the latest must-have feature?
For new vehicles, you can find vehicles by year, make or model, or you can peruse our Buying Guides by vehicle type, such as Sports Cars or Luxury Vehicles. However, we currently don't support keyword text search for new cars. For both new and used vehicles going back to 1992, we maintain model reports with an exhaustive list of standard and optional equipment, for each trim level and across the line, available by clicking on the appropriate buttons. Once you're narrowed your car search to a handful of models, you can search each to see which have the features you want.
How can I find reviews of older cars?
You can search for reviews from newspapers and on other car review sites. Our reviews are posted for new cars as we receive them from various content channels, though not necessarily for all models.
What browsers are supported by your site?
To get the most out of iwantacar.com, we recommend that you use the latest-generation browsers, including Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 (and above), Mozilla 1.7 (and above) and Netscape Navigator 7.0 (and above). If you use a version of these browsers that is earlier than Internet Explorer 5.0, Mozilla 1.7 or Navigator 7.0, we recommend that you upgrade to a later version.
Do I need to have cookies enabled to use your site?
No. We do not store cookies on your computer or use them in any way at all.
I sent a price-quote request to a dealer, but the dealer's response didn't include a price. What should I do?
Feel free to contact the dealer directly by phone or email. Dealers use many systems for processing incoming mail, and if your request is missing specific information you might not get the answer you're looking for. Sometimes, a price-quote request can be filtered out of a dealer's email system entirely. But if you contact a dealer and still don't get the quote you're looking for, shop around for another dealer. Our new-car quote request feature lets you submit price requests for up to three different vehicles at a time; it's to your advantage to use all three.
I have my own website. Can I use your content and/or photos?
